I just wanted to pop in here really quickly to add a little clarity to this conversation. With the changes that came in 5.9.2 there were no changes made to the match size logic. Starfighter matches have always attempted to make a 12v12 match first and upon failing to do that they create 8v8 matches. The changes in frequency of 12v12 seem to be caused by the larger pool of players that have come from the cross factional queues.

We are watching the player sentiment on this. If 12v12 matches being more normal is harmful to the game mode than we will take the time to re-evaluate how matches are created.

The new matchmaker

I would like to clear up a little confusion about the match making changes found in 5.9.2. Here is the patch note for that:

Galactic Starfighter matchmaking has been improved to better account for player experience along with their currently selected ship loadout.
  • Prior to 5.9.2 the match maker would build a game around the player who had been in the queue the longest. It would then try to add players with a similar loadout score (Loadout score being based around the best ship in a player's loadout for that match). Players were then sorted by faction or at random for same vs same matches.
  • After 5.9.2 the match maker still attempts to build a match around the player who has been in the queue the longest. It still attempts to build matches with players with a similar score, but that score now takes into account the player's GSF experience (Based on their number of matches played across their legacy) as well as their loadout score. The match then tries to balance out the teams to be as evenly distributed as possible.

The new system does not have a metric for skill. It does take into account the amount of GSF that player has played as well as how good their loadout is. The matches also now attempt to balance the rosters whereas previously they made no attempt to do so.

We will continue to look at the health of the game and the quality of the matches as we go and make changes as needed. Please continue giving feedback!

No plans to extend double XP. It is still our plan to bring it back regularly so it will be back soon (plus it still lasts for a few more days!).

We are still wrapping up final review this week. That includes verifying any individuals who felt they were unjustly hit and additional users who were cheating in S9. Top 96 rewards will most likely happen next week. Apologies for the delay but we want to make sure we get it right!

Quick update. The team is still working through the lag issues related to Stronghold decos. It is a fairly complex fix, but we believe we are getting close. Currently, it looks like we will deploy a patch on Thursday. I will try to update you tomorrow if I have more info!

The Stronghold area resets we did this morning will hopefully mitigate some of the lag issues you have been seeing. However, we will need a patch to permanently address the issue, turn collision back on for decos, and fix a host of other issues.

The team is hard at work to get everything fixed so that we can push out a patch as soon as possible. Even with the team pounding away on it through the weekend, it is expected we won't be able to push it out until early/mid next week. I will update you as soon as I know more on maintenance timing, expect a post Monday (unless things move much faster than expected).

Here are the current patch notes for the patch (these are not final and subject to change):
  • Closed a gap which allowed players to get underneath the Overlook platform in the Rishi Stronghold.
  • The Cartel Market image for the Visas Marr armor set is no longer showing the Marka Ragnoss belt.
  • Despite the best efforts of the yellow team, the Novare Coast scoreboard now properly tracks the score for both teams.
  • Wins and losses are now properly tracked after all Ranked Matches (this was fixed on August 7th).
  • Dretchers Droids in Chapter XIII: Profit and Plunder will no longer reset.
  • Corrected an issue where the Veteran Mode Gods From the Machine bosses were harder than intended.
  • Players will no longer experience intermittent slowdown while in a Stronghold. (this fix also adds collision and LoS detection back for decorations)
  • Using various quick travel abilities will no longer randomly kill players.
  • Various character unlocks have been added back into the Cartel Market and will now display their appropriate price instead of "True."

Character Slots are gone?

None of those items are actually removed (not permanently anyway). There was a nasty display bug where those items were showing their price as "true" as opposed to the actual price on the Cartel Market. Any other source you can get those perks can still be used. We are going to get that corrected and get those items back on the CM with our planned patch next week.

Stronghold Area Lag Temporary Fix
