Gearing Changes in 5.1.1 and 5.1.2

Hey folks,

As I mentioned earlier this week, we have quite a few changes planned for gearing over the next few Updates. Lets go over what they are, when they are happening, and why!

Game Update 5.1.1 Coming February 7th
  • All Command Experience Points (CXP) gains, CXP Boosts, and CXP Legacy Perks are now additive instead of multiplicative.
    • This change is being made to setup for the greatly increased CXP gains that are possible in 5.1.1 (if you love math click the spoiler tag below for what this means in greater detail)
  • New CXP leveling event. This event will run until Game Update 5.2 in April. During this event all CXP earned will be increased by 250%.
    • The goal is that you will earn one crate every 30 minutes or less. The 30 minute time-frame is for a Tier 3 crate (meaning 1 and 2 will be even faster).
  • All CXP Packs that you earn from drops and Missions are now Bind on Legacy.
    • This change is to help a player distribute CXP around their Legacy if they choose to do so.
  • We are introducing a new 100% CXP boost in addition to the existing 15% and 25% boosts. This boost can be purchased from the Command Token vendor or the Cartel Market. This boost only works up to Command Rank 180 and lasts 2 hours (Command Tokens) or 3 hours (Cartel Market).
    • The goal of selling this boost for Command Tokens is that it allows higher Command Rank players to use their Tokens to greatly accelerate leveling their alts (you can also buy them on the CM or GTN).

Bioware has announced that they will be putting Game Update 5.2 on the PTS soon for testing. For now, the plan is that the test server will be closed with the intention of opening it up later on. Players can apply now to be a closed PTS tester if they meet the following requirements:

  • Being on the closed test server means signing an NDA. You must be willing to sign and abide by that agreement.
  • You must be 18 years or older to be eligible.
  • You must have an active subscription (to access the test server).
  • You must be willing to play and provide feedback.
  • You must be able to post on the forums, if you have been banned from the forums you are ineligible.
  • If you any ToS violations on your account, you are ineligible.
  • Our test server is not localized and our communication around it will be only in English, therefore this opportunity is only open to English speaking players.

Right now Bioware is mainly looking to recruit Guilds and Ops groups to help test Tyth. Early on in the Closed PTS they will only be testing the Operation. Bioware will open up recruiting to individuals and small groups later on if they place the daily area and Master Mode Uprisings on the test server. If your Guild or Op group is interested in applying, please follow these steps:

  • Send an email to swtorsubmissions@swtor.com with the subject line "Closed PTS Application"
  • Include the following information:
    • Your account name.
    • The account name of each Op member/Guild member you wish to bring into the test.
    • Any notes on why you think your Op group or Guild should be accepted into the test.

Again, for this stage we are looking for entire Ops groups/Guilds to test Tyth. Application in no way guarantees entry into the test.

  • Coming with Iokath is the first boss of a new Operation. Each subsequent boss will be released in the future with the entire Op being completely released this year.

New Chapter Difficulty - Master!Earn new Achievements with this new way to experience the Knights of the Fallen Empire and Knights of the Eternal Throne Chapters!
New Uprisings! Jump into the action with five new Uprisings across the galaxy!

  • Trench Runner- Republic Loyalists under the command of General Amos Rike have displaced Alliance forces on Denova and seized control of the baradium mines. Efforts to reclaim the mines have been thwarted by Republic artillery bombarding the "no man's land" between the Alliance beach head and the central processing facility. But where an army fails, a small team could succeed in navigating the battlefield trenches and taking out the Republic defenses.
  • Destroyer of Worlds- Jedi Master Adelade is trying to awaken a dangerous abomination that has hibernated beneath the surface of Makeb for millennia. No records exist of this monstrosity, known only as Gethul. But if the creature awakes, it may be strong enough to destabilize Makeb's core and obliterate the planet. Infiltrate the underground tunnel, secure the explosives and deliver the payload to Gethul's lair. Only then can you destroy the monstrosity and save Makeb from Adelade's deranged plan.
  • Divided We Fall- Rogue Coruscant security agents are plotting a false flag operation. They intend to attack the Senate Tower and plant false evidence in the hopes of inciting the Republic to war against the Alliance. Intel has traced the mastermind behind the plan, Commander Kalin, a former Republic veteran to a hidden base inside the The Works on Coruscant's lower level.
  • Landing Party- Deserters from the Zakuulan military were tracked to Rakata Prime. Under the leadership of the former Battalion Commander Tassar, they are building a new and improved Star Fortress. Infiltrate their surface camp and eliminate Commander Tassar before her operations threaten galactic security.
  • Trial and Error- Working from a hidden space station lab, a rogue group of Republic scientists led by Doctor Alirra Semhess has developed an experimental adrenal. The adrenal, code named RS-33, radically augments a subject's strength and agility at the expense of mental faculties.
Left unchecked, Doctor Semhess and her colleagues could mass-produce RS-33 and create an army of unstoppable abominations to wreak havoc across the galaxy.
